ShirtDressing AppropriatelyPants

Here are some tips on how to dress if you are a guest on CSIS & Friends. They are listed in order of importance, so keep that in mind.

  1. DO NOT WEAR BLUE! Our videos are shot against a blue chroma-key backdrop, so anything that's blue will disappear after editing.

  2. Don't wear shirts or anything else that have words or text on them, including large logos. Not only do they become blurry, but they can be distracting to the viewer, also.

  3. Avoid overly complex patterns and prints, as well as bold, high-contrast stripes. They tend to blur out on video. Subtle stripes or pin-striping should be okay, though.

  4. Avoid pure white or black, as it will make you look pale/dark from the contrast, and can even cause a "halo" effect around you on the video.

  5. Don't worry too much! This isn't a national television broadcast! "Business casual" is about the most formal we'd want; just make sure you are dressed appropriately professional. Also keep in mind that you may be representing/reflecting your group or organization, which is another important factor.
