Dr. Yong Zhang
Dr. Yong Zhang is a second year assistant professor in the CSIS department at YSU, where he
is currently teaching the Survey of Computer Science, Computer Vision and Image Recognition, and User Interface Design courses. He received his MS in Computer Science and Engineering in 2000 and his PHD in Computer Science and Engineering in 2005 from the University of South Florida, Tampa.
Dr. Zhang has published in well respected refereed journals such as IEEE Transactions, and Image and Vision Computing. Additionally, he has published in numerous refereed conferences.
His research interests are in the areas of:
- computer vision
- image processing
- AI
The main focus of his research include non-rigid motion modeling and robust algorithms for
solving inverse problems. His interests span beyond the traditional boundaries of computer vision and AI to include interdisciplinary projects related to:
- biomedical imaging
- breast cancer detection
- human computer interaction
- GUI design
- face and gesture recognition
- multimedia databases
- computer science education
Ed Lazor
Ed Lazor, in the true sense of the term multimedia, is a multimedia artist. Mr. Lazor's working life began in construction and rebuilding motorcycles and cars. From there he delved into media creating posters for alternative music groups and political campaigns, perfecting his skills in video production as early as the seventies, and programming multi-projector slide shows in the early 80's for companies such as:
- Frito Lay
- USAir
- RJR Nabisco
Among all the tools in video production, he chose to concentrate in 3D computer graphic animation. As I see it, 3D computer animation contains all aspects of my experience to date.
As a Computer Artist, he has filled the roll of Technical Lighter, Effects Animator and Compositor on films including:
- Antz
- Forces of Nature
- Peacemaker
- Shrek
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
as well as numerous national TV commercials.
His approach to computer animation shows a variety of approaches to create visual solutions. Involved in Siggraph since 1988 and the ACM since 1991, his interest in art and technology come together in 3D animation.
